Licensed Professional Counselor
Given our unique challenges, I feel it is important to join with each person by understanding their story, embracing their sense of self, and collaborating to achieve personal goals. My experience working in private practice and community agency settings encouraged holistic treatment to achieve the best care. I have worked with adults, adolescents, and children dealing with the stressors of life: anxiety, depression, coping skills, and self-esteem. In addition, I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults impacted by family violence and/or sexual violence. Through these experiences, I have found that individuals are resilient. This resiliency is seen by being empowered to work through our struggles and overcome our challenges using our specific strengths. To these strengths, I add the therapeutic tools, such as cognitive behavioral and solution-focused skills, to guide you in this journey.
When working with children and teens, I am passionate about providing developmentally appropriate therapeutic skills like play interventions and art interventions to connect on their level. Alongside these skills, I feel it is important to work with the caregivers and the family to provide support, foster connections, and develop healthy boundaries to achieve holistic healing. My goal for every client is to facilitate an atmosphere of complete acceptance in order to achieve a place in which we can strengthen our sense of self as well as our purpose. Presently, I am working towards my Registered Play Therapist (RPT™) credential under the supervision of Brenda Lopez, LPC-S, RPT-S™. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Criminology from Florida State University and my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston-Victoria.
I currently serve on the board for Sam Houston Chapter of the Texas Association of Play Therapy as their social media liaison.
