Brenda Lopez, LPC-S, RPT-S™
Clinical Director
In my role as Clinical Director at FBCCC, it is my intention to be able to meet the needs of those that are seeking direction by having a diverse group of clinicians that may approach mental wellness in different ways. Each clinician has their own experience and areas of specific knowledge as well as their own theoretical approach. They all are committed to excellence in their field and offer their best to those they serve.
Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Texas #65884 Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, North Carolina Professional Mental Health Counselor, New Mexico Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™ EMDR Trained
It’s essential for someone in counseling to feel accepted and understood while seeking support and healing. I aim to meet clients where they are and guide them towards their goals using various approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and Humanistic therapies. As a Registered Play Therapist, I employ both guided and free play therapy techniques to help young children with anxiety, depression, or other emotional issues. For older children and teens, I adapt my methods to fit their specific needs. I also assist families with behavioral problems at home and school, improve positive interactions, and enhance parenting skills. My experience covers issues like anxiety, depression, life changes, family conflicts, and trauma, including various forms of abuse and domestic violence.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and my Master of Arts in Psychology from Houston Baptist University.
I provide supervision for both LPC and RPT.
I served on the board for the Sam Houston Chapter of the Texas Association of Play Therapy from 2019-2021 with the roles of President Elect, President and Past President. I am a member of Texas Counseling Association, Texas Association of Play Therapy, and the Christian Counselors of Texas.
